dt=Text Books 0 I especially like how I can keep multiple documents in one Treepad file. At first it might seem like a little extra work to keep text copies in a Treepad (text-only) file and in your wordprocessing format, but honestly, it's the best way to keep a backup copy. And if you're spending a lot of your time writing, you already know the importance of having backup copies of everything you write, don't you? (Yes, that includes synopsis, outlines, notes....) [I've experienced firsthand the trouble of trying to recover a corrupt document from MS Word, and I have a friend who assured me that it isn't any easier in Wordperfect. I've tested this program myself, and any Treepad document can be opened in notepad where any part of the document can be easily extracted with a simple cut and paste.] And it's easy to export a particular article to work on in your main word processing program. File ==> export ==> article ==> as text file. That's it. Then you just open it with your wp program. This is mainly designed for use by novel writers, but it could easily be adapted to short stories or non-fiction or just about anything. It's a simple program and this is a simple template, but I hope you find it useful. Have fun with it. Terescia Happily Ever After http://www.teresciaharvey.com/hea Ps. If you prefer to work in a font besides the default, it's easy to change it! I use Trebuchet MS 10 point, just because I like the clean look it gives me. [View ==> Options] You can change the font for the articles, the nodes, the printer, and the search box. 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Story 1 1 To use this template for another story, just right-click on Story 1 node and choose copy ==> subtree. Then paste it where you want it in the tree (most likely as a child node of "Books"). 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Synopsis 2 Text copy of your synopsis -- especially useful as a backup or just to have ready to export as text and then open in your full-featured word processing program to format and print. You can also create nodes for any synopsis you create for a specific purpose. 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Long (10 page +) 3 Text copy of your synopsis -- especially useful as a backup or just to have ready to export as text and then open in your full-featured word processing program to format and print. 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Short 3 Text copy of your synopsis -- especially useful as a backup or just to have ready to export as text and then open in your full-featured word processing program to format and print. 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Outline 2 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Timeline 2 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Notes 2 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Submissions 2 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Agents 3 List the agents you've submitted this project to with as much detail as you want to include. (Cut and paste the information into the rejection file when/if necessary.) Also, some people will prefer to use a monospaced font for their list, in order to align columns. But not me...here's an example of my preferred format: -------------------- Date Submitted Ficticious Agent Street Address Suite City, State Zip Telephone Email Date response received Accepted / Rejected Comments: any comments from the agent that I feel are relevant or that I might want to refer to later -------------------- Date Submitted Ficticious Agent Street Address Suite City, State Zip Telephone Email Date response received Comments: any comments from the agent that I feel are relevant or that I might want to refer to later ------------------- If the submission was rejected I just cut and paste the information block into the "Rejections" article. 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Publishers 3 Basically I use the same format as I use in the "Agents" article. Look at it for the sample. 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Rejections 2 Basically I use the same format as I use in the "Submissions" article. Look at it for the samples. Cut and paste the information of the rejecting agent or publisher into the appropriate article. 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Agents 3 5P9i0s8y19Z dt=Text Publishers 3 5P9i0s8y19Z
